St Cecilia’s Rooms Refurbishment

This project involved the comprehensive demolition and refurbishment of 10 patient rooms within the older wing of the St Cecilia’s facility: 6 single ensuite rooms and 4 double rooms with shared bathrooms.
Challenges & Execution
Working in a live healthcare environment required meticulous planning and coordination with facility staff to minimise disruption to patient care. A delayed start date, coupled with unforeseen structural and service conditions in this older building wing, added further complexity.
Throughout delivery, our team managed 69 formal variations, driven largely by in-wall discoveries and evolving service requirements. Despite these challenges, we maintained a tight programme and successfully handed over the project on time and to a high standard, as originally planned.
Key works included:
Complete demolition of existing interiors
New ceiling grid and acoustic ceiling tiles
Altered electrical layouts to suit updated room configurations
Full bathroom refits with new plumbing, vinyl floors, and wall finishes
Custom-built wardrobes, vanities, and integrated medical service headboards
Upgrades to medical gas systems, air conditioning, nurse call, and lighting
Installation of new data access points, fire alarm, and sprinkler systems
Re-plastering and repainting of all spaces.
The refurbished rooms now provide a modern, functional, and comfortable environment that meets the hospital’s operational needs while improving the experience for patients and staff.
